Server recycling is the secure, documented disposal of decommissioned rack servers, blade enclosures, storage arrays, and related data-center hardware. MicroAnt handles de-racking, drive sanitization to NIST SP 800-88 or physical shredding, and delivers a Certificate of Recycling with a serialized device manifest for every Chicago or Midwest data-center project.

Decommission your data center the right way
Data centers cycle through hardware every three to five years as performance demands outpace aging server capabilities. When you decommission a server fleet, you inherit two obligations: secure data destruction and documented, compliant disposal of the hardware itself. Improperly disposed servers expose organizations to environmental liability under RCRA and data liability under HIPAA, SOX, and state privacy laws.
MicroAnt's project team manages the full server decommission workflow from first contact to certificate delivery. We coordinate data-center-floor access, work around maintenance windows, and process equipment under full chain-of-custody. For rack-mounted hardware, our logistics team handles de-racking, packaging, and transportation — you provide the equipment and we handle everything after.
Every storage device removed from a server is inventoried by serial number and sanitized per NIST SP 800-88 guidelines before the hardware is processed for materials recovery. On-site drive shredding is available for HDDs and SSDs that cannot leave the facility. Call (866) 770-2650 to discuss on-site requirements with our project team.
R2v3-downstream processing ensures server materials — steel chassis, copper wiring, aluminum, circuit boards — follow documented end-markets free of illegal export. Each material stream is tracked through contracted downstream processors and audited annually. MicroAnt provides the downstream documentation required by enterprise procurement and environmental compliance teams.
Chicago and Midwest data centers, colocation facilities, hospital server rooms, and government IT facilities can schedule server disposal by calling or completing the form on this page. We service the full Chicago metro and coordinate multi-site data-center projects across Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Whether you are refreshing 10 servers or decommissioning an entire data-center floor, MicroAnt scales to the project. Call (866) 770-2650 to speak with our project team about scheduling, access requirements, and documentation needs. A dedicated project manager is assigned to every multi-rack engagement.
